The Lord was in a house, preaching the Word to the multitude of people gathered to hear Him. These four men had enough awareness about the Lord to know that they needed to get this man to Jesus. For the man with the palsy, like each of us our only hope is to come to Jesus. Because of the size of the crowd, there was no conventional way to get him there, with that being said, we must be very careful with the extremes that we will go to get people to Jesus. The Apostle Paul said, "I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some." (1 Cor 9:22 KJV) But it no wise did he compromise precept, principal, or propriety to accomplish this task! These four men found a way! Uncovering the roof, they lowered him down into the presence of the Lord. As the Lord's attention was drawn to this man laying on his bed, verse 5 says, "When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee." We make much of the small amount of faith it takes for one unbeliever to become a believer, but what about the amount of faith it takes to get people to Jesus? "The faith of an unbeliever can save himself. The faith of a believer(s) can save many others." (James 2:18 KJV) Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: show me thy faith without thy works, and I will show thee my faith by my works.
Let me ask this important question, what does the Lord notice about your faith? With these four unnamed men the Lord noticed: a faith that was dynamic, a faith that was determined, a faith that was declared, and a faith that was distinguished. Their action & effort was what caught the Lord's attention and moved Him to forgive the man's sins well before He healed him of his palsy.

There is a need for believers to believe! Believe that the Lord is a rewarded of them that diligently seek Him. We are co-laborers together with Him, if we will do our part, He has promised that He would do His part!
